IF *I* CAN'T GET ANYTHING DONE, YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER

Via Blogson Contagion of Miasmatic Review, an annoyingly addictive time waster:

Build some towers, shoot some monsters, try to make it through all 38 levels with a better score than 5925.

Only took me 5 tries to make it all the way through.

Helpful hints in the extended entry...

From the hints page:

Your score is based on your gold + the worth (cost and upgrades) of towers. At the end of each level, any gold you have earns interest. So to get a high score keep as much of your gold in the bank as possible to earn the most.

When you get wood (every 7 levels) you can spend it on unlocking other towers or upgrading your interest. Each time you upgrade your interest it increases by 5%. Of course, it is no good having a high interest if you are leaking creeps and die. So remember to spend some wood on unlocking better towers to help you fight the creeps.

Fire towers give more damage than gold they cost.

You don't need the Air or Arrow towers, at all. Fire can hit air, and you get wood before your first [AIR] wave.

My experience:

Start with 3 cannons. Spread them out. Upgrade them slowly. If something leaks past your last cannon, toss up an arrow tower or two really quick. The great thing about this game is that you can add towers and/or upgrade ANY time.

When you get your first wood (which only SOUNDS dirty) opt for fire, then build a fire tower in the middle of the maze. The rest of the time, increase your interest rate.

I discovered that it's actually cheaper to build new fire towers than to upgrade an existing one. Build them as needed, but only if you need to kill something that leaks by (or looks like it will leak by) your established armaments. Try to sit out rounds without spending money and just accumulate interest.

By round 38, I had fire towers over pretty much every square millimeter of land. Even so, I was bad off financially & had to sell some towers to make enough money to buy some extra lives to cover the bugs that leaked out. Still, everything died before their second trip through the maze. I was happy just to finally have it over with.

1 Oh no you don't, Harvey. I am not going to click that link and get sucked in. I have work that I need to get done so I don't feel so stressed out all the time. Shame on you taunting me like that.

2 It'll only take you about 20 minutes to die the first time. It's the "what if I try it THIS way?" that'll eat your afternoon :-)

3 I've tried a bunch of different schemes, but I can't get past level 37

4 I got to level 39. That was with a pile of rocket towers in the middle (I couldn't resist the idea). But that level wiped me out. 7377 points.

7 Oh yeah, that worked better. Finished with 18 lives left and 9,798 points. #486. Obviously nowhere near Contagion (now down to #113...)
