BEFORE I BURN OUT COMPLETELY

So, I've been working about 12 hour days for the last few weeks, plus toss in about 45 minutes (each way) commute time.

I'm exhausted all week, and it takes me half the weekend to feel human enough to even start doing any blogging, and by then, it's Sunday, and it's time to get ready for work on Monday.

I need a break.

So for starters, I'm cutting out the recycling, the copycatting, and the cross-posting at Bad Example.

No more Graffiti Currency - it's all in the archives anyway.

No more Dirty Minds Quiz - that's just typing somebody else's words from a page, which feels tedious.

No more cross-posting from IMAO - you want political humor, you know where to go. And I've heard that some load-time issues got fixed, so you don't have to wait an entire day for the front page to show up.

I *am* keeping the Daily Love Notes (for now) because I still have 3 more months worth written. Don't know if I'm continuing it next year or not.

The rest will be... whatever I'm in the mood to write.

Or not, as the case may be.

We'll see what happens.

PS Not saying I'll NEVER post in the above categories again, just saying they won't be daily features any more, because doing them daily has become not-fun.

1 Can so understand. Glad you are keeping the love notes (for now anyway). They always, always, make me feel good to read them. Take care and don't overwork yourself.

2 Hey, aren't you supposed to be at work right now?

3 As this has been my husband's work schedule for the past 25 years, may I make a suggestion - take it or leave it as you will. Take a walk daily (with TNT if at all possible!). At least a mile - 2 if you can manage it. If you can do it, walk at night (about an hour after eating at least) because it is really relaxing before going to bed and it helps the digestion tremendously after eating dinner late. If it's not lightning or temp is above -5... get out there! It really will help with such a schedule. Beloved husband and I walk at night (yeah we take sticks with us although we've never seen wildlife - even when we lived in the land of drive-by shootings we never saw wildlife *grin*) usually around 9 or 9:30pm (yes he gets home late enough that we eat anywhere between 7:30 and 9pm). Sometimes we both feel just beat to a pulp. Then we walk... and by the time we get home, we feel so much better it's amazing. It's also a great time for us to talk about stuff. Hang in there Harvey, you're still becoming accustomed to a new routine - that takes quite a bit of time.

4 You'll find a new routine, until then, just go along with what is comfortable. On an unrelated note...Damn you Harvey! Ever since your B'day post I've been going through the archives of that Sinfest comic strip. On dialup.

5 It is more important you do what you need to do for you.

6 Long time reader but I think this may be the first time I've commented. I understand the need to write less often, I work 12 hour shifts as well and having free time is few and far between. If it matters ) I miss your "little known facts" about certain states or places. Just thought I'd pop in. Hope you get some much needed rest.

7 I feel your pain, 50-60 hour work week was why I quit my last job, I put up with "we'll get you some help out there" for 2 months. I guess It comes down to "are you happy doing It" or Is your mind going to snap like a twig one morning In a hail of gun fire??........... I think I'll start watching the local news more for awhile

10 Bout time. We'll follow; you don't have to cut and paste and go through the motions for us.

11 Harvey, I can't wait to see more writing. I think a lot of us are experiencing stress for some reason this season. Take care, take it easy, and I'll have a cocktail on your behalf.
