A LITTLE OFF THE TOP, PLEASE

Straight White Eric is complaining about his shaggy head, which got me to thinking about a question for the fellas:

Barber or hair salon?

I'll put in two votes for the barber right away.

I'm no expert on men's haricuts, but I would pick barber.... and having a friend who IS a barber, even if you work in a salon, you are still a barber.

In which category would Super Cuts fall?

Beloved Husband and Young Son have always used a barber. One of the barbers wanted to cut my hair too... she'd tell me "I can cut your hair cheap"... ummm... no thanks. (one of the pitfalls of having to take your son in for a haircut I guess)

... as short as I keep my hair, it is more akin to hair sculpting rather than cutting.... but, yeah, I go to a barber....

Spurs - SuperCuts is a salon in my book

Then salon it is I guess. Maybe I'm a Metro and didn't know it...

Sigh. I go to the barber and the boys (this includes my hubby) go to the salon.

Harvey, Barber (male preferred). The women barbers just wanna chat too much. Just cut the damn hair.

Harv, you forgot the redneck option--home. When your hair hangs to mid-back, as mine does, the wife (before) or girlfriend (now) just makes a quick cut with scissors. You finish up the front yourself. Of course, having a lot of forehead (solar panel for a sex machine), I don't really have any "front"... Life is in some ways so much easier when you're a long-haired biker.

Hey, what's wrong with SuperCuts? For some of us guys with no social life it's the only time we get a woman fondling our hair. Stupid 70 hour work schedule....

Salon is ok, as long as you get the girl with the big boobs & the short arms. ...if only she wouldn't spoil it all by talking...

Barber. Male barber, preferably a mute male barber. Just cut the hair and shut up. I get enough mindless yammering already. I can't go with the woman stylist with the large boobs, my wife has a gun.

Barber. If I had the money, I'd get my haircut twice a week in the barbershop, just because one of the finest pleasures in life is heated shaving cream and a straight razor on the back of the neck. I've had to be woken up after the neck shave before. I was awake when he started...

Pete - You'd love my current guy. After the brief formalities of greeting and desired length/style, he literally doesn't make a peep until he's done. That's my personal preference. My second choice is someone who can do a nice 15-20 minute monologue to which I need to do no more than make listening noises. That was my last barber. And also the one before him. Great guys, both.

I don't know why it is, but so far only a male barber has been able to get a flat top haircut done perfectly without a flat top comb. Sure it costs money I don't have to get it done at his place, but its worth the extra money because I know it will get done right.

It's been a long time since I've had my hair cut, but if I did keep my hair short, and when I start to keep my hair short in the future, barber all the way.
