WWII WASN'T ALL HAM & PLAQUES, YOU KNOW

Denny of Grouchy Old Cripple gives a general curse to the Hollywood left and the MSM.

I'm old enough to remember when Hollywood was on our side and most of the movie stars were also. If the current Hollywood buttheads were around in WWII, they would have been on Hitler's side. The Lamestream Media would have been also.

He's righter than he knows.

After browsing through some of Dr. Seuss's old War Cartoons, I found this one:

and checked out those names - McCormick & Patterson.

Here's a Wikipedia snippet:

Along with her brother at the New York Daily News and her cousin at the Chicago Tribune, Patterson was an ardent isolationist and opponent of the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1942, after the Battle of Midway, the Times-Herald ran a Tribune story that revealed American intelligence was reading the Japanese naval code. Roosevelt, furious, had the Tribune and the Times-Herald indicted for espionage but backed down because of the publicity, charges he was persecuting his enemies, and the likelihood of an acquittal (since the Navy's own censors had twice cleared the story before it was published). During World War II, she and her brother were accused by their enemies of being Nazi sympathizers. Representative Elmer Holland of Pennsylvania on the floor of the United States House of Representatives said Cissy and Joseph Patterson "would welcome the victory of Hitler."

So, there's nothing new these days.

Just more of it.

1 heh. The "unified nation" theory of WWII is a myth. Always has been, always will be. Who perpetuated that myth? The people who were against the war. That's who. Mostly liberals and reporters. (I know, I know, repetitively redundant) Stop me if you've heard this one, but, the war was opposed on the grounds that American soldiers shouldn't die for oil. That was CPUSA's official stance, until late 1942. I wonder what happened in late 1942 that changed their mind? Oh, wait. That's right. The Soviet Union got invaded. After that, CPUSA stopped sponsoring all the anti-war protests. William Randolph Hearst was also QUITE outspoken, publically and in his newspapers, about how he felt the war was being mismanaged. It seems he didn't like the USMC's way of conducting the war in the Pacific, so, he lobbied long and hard for MacArthur to be given command of the WHOLE theater. Check your history books some time. Just who was in position to conduct Operation Olympic first? Was it the USMC (under the command of Adm Nimitz), or was it the US Army (under the command of Gen MacArthur). I'll give you a hint: Iwo Jima is closer to Japan than the Phillipines. And Iwo Jima was a USMC battle, not a USA battle. I don't pay any attention to the MSM these days. They wouldn't know a fact if it smacked them in the face, and you can trust them just about as far as you can throw them.

2 Well, that's a relief - actually. Ya see, I'm not a big fan of "History". I find the past boring and always figured that if I needed know something I could look it up. As I've grown older, I've learned that history repeats itself in many little ways. So I've begun checking into things that have happened - for reference purposes. I have an example - related to this topic - I thought the treatment by the MSM of W was pretty harsh. Until I learned they treated Reagan just as badly. Once I learned that history repeated itself, I realized that we survived the Left's MSM-controlled crap for decades now, and we'll probably continue to do so. Which creates another thought: One of the things I've learned is fantastic about (teenage) children is that they have very good "bullshit meters". Which is they can tell when they are being fed bullshit. It is what helps them get through school and college. I wonder if a person becomes a lefty-liberal because their "bullshit meter" burns out or is defective? That is, they believe what people tell them, even though common sense indicates it is false. Hmmm.
