SUSIE NEEDS INFORMATION

Susie of Practical Penumbra has a question about Hurricane Katrina's effects:

I'd like some news on how Mississippi fared. Anyone know any Mississippi bloggers who might have the scoop on Gautier or Pascagoula?

Let her know, either in my comments or hers.

2 I would assume those that didn't get out would not be able to post anything because of having no electricity. They didn't have mandatory evacuation but should have because they're the ones who got hurt the worst and the waters are still rising. There might be bloggers who aren't near the gulf or in the storm's path but if they were in the path, they have no means of contacting anyone. Nobody does.

3 She's not blogging from Mississippi, but Michelle Malkin is doing about the best live-blogging about Katrina I've seen yet. New posts about every hour, and all of them full of links to various news outlets. I'll post this over at Susie's place, too. I'm guessing she has either family or friends she is concerned about, in Mississippi.

4 Thanks, Harv! Also Jeff and caltechgirl... so far I haven't been able to find anything about what's happened east of Biloxi, but judging by what happened there, I'm not very hopeful. I'm praying my aunt, uncle and my cousins had the sense to evacuate....

5 It's not lookin' good in Pascagoula. I have a friend whose family lives there. They lost EVERYTHING... all four homesteads. Not even a slab left. All of it... gone. Her Mom had evac'd inland to a bank... on the 2nd floor. They took water up to the 2nd floor.

6 This isn't pretty, but what I can glean of conditions east of Biloxi seem to be chaotic. Lawlessness and looting seems to be doing more damage than the actual storm did.
