IF IT LOOKS LIKE A COMMENT PARTY AND SMELLS LIKE A COMMENT PARTY...

It's probably over at Pull My Finger.

When will people learn not to leave their blogs unguarded?

IF YOU KNOW ANY GOOD PRAYERS...

Blogson Peter of Shakey Pete's Shootin' Shack had a stroke and is in the hospital. Details are still sketchy, but I posted what I know about over at his place.

If you're not the praying type, you can always post some gun prOn to cheer him up:

FOR THE ELEVATOR MAN

After reading about how much pride blogson Johnny-Oh of Closet Extremist takes in his work, I got inspired to whip up a little something in his honor:

HOW DO YOU COUNT DESCENDANTS?

Mulling over the fact that I have 2 bloggreatgrandchildren, it occurs to me that - should either one spawn - there won't be enough room in my sidebar for the word "bloggreatgreatgranddaughter", so I need something shorter.

I was thinking of referring to these hypothetical bloggers as "4th generation", but then I wondered if they should be "5th generation", because maybe I should count myself as 1st.

Any ideas?

IT'S A GIRL!

Bloggranddaughter VW Bug of One Happy Dog Speaks has presented the world with a bouncing baby blogdaughter:

Sticks of From Chaos to Serendipity

Let's take a peek...

Traditional sucky first post - YUP!

A brief introduction - did you know that all teenagers want is money & car keys? What a lie! All *I* ever wanted was car keys.

(While I'm thinking about it. Sticks needs to install that trackback auto-detect from Haloscan. I guess she didn't use the auto-install when she signed up with them. See this post, near the bottom for a couple places to find out about that.)

Teenagers having sex - yeah, she's part of the Bad Example Family all right.

Judging by this air mattress experience, I'm guessing her oldest son never tried making balloon animals.

The best part about having your nephew join the Marines? They'll teach him how to drink. As I'm sure That 1 Guy of Drunken Wisdom and/or Straight White Eric can attest.

Introduces the 3 boys & the dog, and lists their nicknames on the sidebar so you know who's who. Smart lady, that Sticks.

Already doing guest-posting for blogmom. Kids grow up SO fast these days...

New Fox special - When Sesame Street Attacks!

So... what DOES happen if you get so many hurricanes in a year that you run out of letters?

Anyway, Sticks, you can pick up a Bad Example Family logo from this post, and you may, if you wish, blogroll the rest of the Bad Example Family using the handy blogrolling javascript, although neither is a requirement.

Meanwhile you can look forward - with either anticipation or dread - to regular visits and comments from me.

Welcome home.

A MARINE HAS FALLEN

Blogson Mike the Marine of From the Halls to the Shores lost one of his best friends. A former Marine. A motorcycle accident.

I sorta know how he feels, but it's not my place to quantify another man's grief or remembrance.

My only suggestion is to visit Mike, bring a beverage, and drink it there to honor his friend.

Pat would probably be cool with that.

MADFISH WILLIE PLAYS WITH HIS PENIS FOR ATTENTION

Go to this post at Madfish Willie's Cyber Saloon and follow the rules.

in the comments, take a movie title and substitute the word penis for a word in the title... do not repeat a previous penis movie tile... you are only allowed ONE penis movie title per post as we are aiming for the Blogger World Record for comments on a post...

I notice no one's used "Penis 9 From Outer Space" yet.

IT'S A BOY!

Back in October of 2004, the commenter known as TBFlowers sent me an e-mail asking about how to start a blog. After rubbing my hands together with evil glee, I gave him some links and some advice.

After the requisite 9 month gestation period, out popped my newest blogson:

GA Mongrel

Let's take a peek:

Obligatory sucky first post: AND HOW!

Honduran soccer blogging? Um...

Takes some shots at reality TV. Ok, I forgive you for the soccer-blogging.

How to make tree ornaments out of inattentive bicyclists. This one hits close to home because I didn't have a car while I was in the Navy, and I bicycled everywhere. And yes, I was one of those assholes who considered red lights to be "stoptional". Good thing I didn't do it in Georgia with the murderous Mongrel on the prowl.

Blogs about the evil and insane Cynthia "Bush let 9/11 happen" McKinney without busting out any F-bombs. This guy's got WAY too much self-control.

Bicyclists not listening. Time to start bringing up mothers.

Tells Jane Fonda where she can put her veggie-oil-powered bus.

Some intriguing thoughts on the proper role of tasers amongst the weaponry of law-enforcement personnel. I think Peter & Contagion should chime in on this one.

He suspects Google may be getting too big for its britches.

Will the Atlanta Braves be changing their name to the "Atlanta Child Pornographers"? Well, at least the NCAA won't be offended.

Not bad for a guy whose initial excuse was "sheer goofiness doesn't translate real well into webdom".

I'll be sure to remind him of that when his blog shows up on MSNBC.

Anyway, TB, you can pick up a Bad Example Family logo from this post, and you may, if you wish, blogroll the rest of the Bad Example Family using the handy blogrolling javascript, although neither is a requirement.

Meanwhile you can look forward - with either anticipation or dread - to regular visits and comments from me.

Welcome home.

PS Please hurry and get a contact e-mail on your sidebar so that we can start forwarding porn-spam to you.

FIREARMS + BLACK POWDER + ABSENT BLOGGER =

Oh, I think you know the answer to that one.

Blogson Contagion of Miasmatic Review is gone for a week.

Have at him.

ANYONE WANT TO BE SHAKEY PETE'S CO-BLOGGER?

Blogson Peter of Shakey Pete's Shootin' Shack is looking for a partner:

I need a co-blogger. There are a variety of reasons why, chief among them include the rather narrow fields of interest and knowledge that I have, and my inability to post pictures.

I do not require any co-blogger to march in complete lockstep but a generally conservative/libertarian (small 'L') viewpoint would be needed.

What would be required is that once, perhaps twice, per week, this co-blogger be willing and able to post pictures that I'd send via E-mail on shooting and handloading posts that I write. Please don't ask why I can E-mail pics and not post them, it's a mystery that neither I, nor my engineer son-in-law can figure out. Nor can my blogpappy Harv.

The only editorial control that I demand is that there be no grandchild-unsafe words used. I have been known to use ugly words from time to time in my life, some say that I use more than my share. Just not here, on this blog. The main purpose of this blog, from my point of view is that a person with no experience with firearms or the safe handloading of ammunition will, even without a hands-on coach, be able to learn these essential skills. Since shooting is very much a family sport it is my policy to have no words on this site that Mom or Dad can't read to younger children or feel safe in letting older children poke around this blog unsupervised. (Umm, careful with the blogroll, mmkay?)

So, anyone that would like to dip a toe into blogging and is somewhat computer and internet savvy is cordially invited to look 'round this site. If you think that you'd fit, drop me a line. I'm not particularly interested in your age, race, gender or sexual orientation, nor would physical handicap be an issue. Mental handicaps are already pretty well represented, though. This theoretical co-blogger need, and probably shouldn't, feel compelled to blog about guns and shooting, this blog is already of narrow interest. Someone writing about other things than what I do would probably make for a more interesting site. I may draw the line at catblogging, although huntin' dogs might be fun.

Let him know in his comments.

This post is probably a good litmus test to see if you're the right person for the job. If you can give a hearty "Hell, yeah!", you'll likely feel right at home workin' with Peter.
